The First Steps
Updated: Sep 7, 2019
A couple months ago, a rather cliched but chance discussion over lunch led us to doing some fact checking about hunger. It took us just a few minutes of googling to realize how emotionally unprepared we were for the numbers.
Somehow, even though we were vaguely aware of the idea of hunger in the world, what hit us was the unhinged magnitude of the problem and perhaps the shattered perception that it yet isn't just 'a thing of the past'. This wasn't, unfortunately, just about the four famines either.
“Do you have a design in mind for your blog? Whether you prefer a trendy postcard look or you’re going for a more editorial style blog - there’s a stunning layout for everyone.”
Intrigued and a little upset, we wanted to dig in further to understand how the problem is perceived by those around us. We met and interviewed a few people here in the Silicon Valley and released a survey to a wider audience promising to feed a person for every completed survey/interview. The results were interesting, surprising and encouraging - to say the least.
We might publish the detailed results of the study at a later date but we made a quick video about some observations here.
We want to take a moment and congratulate all those who made this possible.
As of the time of publishing this blog, we have served food to approx. 100 children and seniors. These feedings have happened in two geographically-afar cities in India.
